December 2008 - from the Grapevine: SVAN Quilt

This year’s queen-sized quilt entitled, Views of the Adirondacks, is rich in the color and the natural beauty of our area.

The process for making this quilt takes many hands, a lot of time, and planning .  After choosing a theme, seventeen women took on the task of designing, creating a pattern, and appliquéing twenty quilt squares.  Other members of the quilt group took the completed squares, which they assembled and sewed together with sashings and trimmed with border fabrics to form the quilt top.   After the quilt top, batting and backing was sandwiched together, the women pictured below then basted the quilt.  The quilt is ready for quilting and when completed will be returned to members of the group who will trim and bind the edges.

The work of art will then be ready for the fund raisers.
