SVAN WORKSHOPS
Cabin Fever? Winter blahs? Perhaps the best medicine is a teaspoon or two of SVAN workshops, guaranteed easy to swallow. The Arts Education Committee has selected a buffet of sixteen workshops taught by eight superbly qualified instructors.
Warm yourself near the kiln as you explore pottery making—wheel or slab, the first offerings in January. Late in the month, try your hand “Drawing Expressive Portraits,” then slip into February to choose from one day workshops in hand weaving and basketry and a two day event, “Publish with Your Computer.” By March, we all need a new perspective as we transition from winter to spring. SVAN to the rescue with “Rustic Frame” and “Gourd Sculpting. Need color to counteract all that white snow? Right on the spring equinox “Fresh Floral Spring Arrangement” will inspire your garden planning.
Also in March, more weaving, baskets and gourds.
April at last: the joy of Easter and longer days leads us toward summer colors. Mix your own colors on canvas with two six-week painting classes lasting through May and June and, perhaps, make your own frame for your creations in the repeat of “Rustic Frame.”
